First entry, wow. This project is the next stage of my headlong dive into ttrpg development. I've been roleplaying since 1997, with longer and shorter interruptions primarily as a GM. After a recent hiatus of several years, I dove back into this world in the summer of 2021. This time deeper than ever. Of course, I'd written house rules and adventure modules, drawn maps and characters before, and publishing them never even crossed my mind.
Then I was inspired to share my ideas by Mörk Borg and the fantastic community around the game. I thought I'd see where the rabbit hole leads.
Let's start small. I published four monsters for Mörk Borg. Then I thought about it. Continuing in this direction, I can write a bestiary with dozens of monsters. Or I could write an adventure that puts my monsters, already unleashed into the world, into context, bringing them to life. Let the little children come to me is the latter.
Strangely, the birth of my son inspired my first published project. It got me thinking about the most horrible monster I could imagine as a new father. For some reason, what came to mind was a powerful creature that kidnaps newborns and turns them into eternal, but emotionless beings. Plus, she's convinced she's doing the right thing, so her determination is unwavering. And so the idea of Nanny Angel was born.
I think there's more to the concept than a simple monster. Who is the dead god? What was the religion of his followers? What happens to families whose newborn child is taken away by Nanny Angel? Where does this self-proclaimed savior lurk? How does the Hungry chains of suffering and the Swordsman fit into the picture?
These are some of the questions that I hope Let the little children come to me answers in a very entertaining and spectacular way.
Next status report in a week.
